Defense

Defense

In Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution, the founding fathers empowered Congress to: “Provide for the common Defense… To raise and support Armies … (and) to provide and maintain a Navy.”  The security of the American citizens is one of the sole constitutional duties of the federal government.

Dr. Gosar is a champion of a strong national defense, an advocate for the men and women of America’s Armed Forces and their families, a top watch dog, fighting to return fiscal discipline to the Department of Defense.

As a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Dr. Gosar has led the fight to expose waste, fraud, and abuse in all forms of government.  All branches of government should be better stewards of taxpayer dollar, including the Department of Defense.  Common-sense reforms would go a long way towards addressing our debt crisis.

Concurrently, Dr. Gosar knows we can turn a national debt crisis into a national security crisis.  A strong national defense is vital to the security of the American people and integral to our local economy.  He has consistently supported legislation that ensures our service members have the resources they need to protect our nation.

As your Congressman, he has been a strong advocate of Arizona’s unique defense assets, such as the Yuma Proving Ground, one of the largest military installations in the world and one of the largest employers in our state, located in the 4th District. Arizona’s defense industry plays an important role in provides thousands of high-paying jobs and injects millions of dollars into our state’s economy.

Dr. Gosar knows a strong national defense is good for our economy and our country.  He will remain a strong advocate on behalf of Arizona’s defense interests as your Congressman
